Pursuant to the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Union Territory of Ladakh, the District Administration, Leh has initiated the holding of special lease renewal camps in Leh town for the renewal of expired lease deeds granted prior to 31 March 1997. This is a first in a series of measures being take to reform the revenue administration and meet the land related aspirations of people of Ladakh.
The camps are being organized at the Housing Colony Committee Hall and the Tehsil Office, Leh, with the objective of facilitating a streamlined and time-bound renewal process for eligible leaseholders.
In this connection, the general public is requested to identify and submit details of such expired lease cases in and around Leh town that pertain to the period prior to 31 March 1997. The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh shall ensure that all eligible cases are examined and processed within a prescribed timeframe, strictly in accordance with the applicable rules and guidelines.
The initiative aims to address long-pending lease renewal matters and provide effective administrative relief to the public.
In a separate step, a decision has been taken that in so far as revenue related 17 services are concerned (except taking copies of maps), such as securing true copies of revenue records, Extract of Jamabandi, Extract of Girdwari, Copy of mutation, Extract of Shajra Nasb etc henceforth, all such cases will be available on an online mode. People will have to access https://landrecords.ladakh.gov.in portal for this purpose.
Chief Secretary has given firm directions to the revenue department that there is need for regulatory clarity between powers of land allotment, and land use both in urban and rural areas of Ladakh. This must strike a balance between the need for planned development and meeting the economic aspirations of people.
