    Kargil, January 31, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) to review and deliberate on issues related to food safety and the promotion of healthy dietary practices across the district.
    The meeting was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Assistant Director FCS&CA, District Programme Officer ICDS, a representative of the Chief Education Officer, and the Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Kargil.
    The main agenda of the meeting was to review the Action Taken Report (ATR) of the previous DLAC meeting held on September 15, 2025, and to assess the progress of ongoing food safety initiatives in the district.
    During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner issued several important directives.
    The Food Safety Department was instructed to intensify inspections of food establishments, carry out compounding proceedings against defaulters, and conduct sampling of food products containing monosodium glutamate (MSG) as well as Chinese candies. The department was also directed to conduct regular checks at entry points of vehicles arriving from other states.
    The Education Department was directed to ensure FSSAI registration of all schools operating under the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme.
    The Horticulture Department was instructed to prepare and circulate a video guide for farmers on the correct use of Potassium Metabisulphite (KMS) in apricot processing.
    The Cooperative Department was directed to ensure FSSAI registration of all food-related premises under its jurisdiction.
    The Tourism Department was instructed to complete FSSAI registration of all food-related outlets falling under food safety regulations. While the Chief Medical Officer was instructed to share the data of food borne diseases.
