Kargil, February 02, 2026: Administrative Secretary, Rural Development Department (RDD) & Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), Shashanka Ala, IAS, today chaired a review meeting at the Conference Hall, DC Office Baroo, Kargil, to assess sector-wise approved outlay and expenditure for the financial year 2025–26.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; Director RDD (virtually); Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Kargil; Block Development Officers (BDOs) of Kargil, Sodh, TSG, Pashkum and Karsha; and Councillor Parkachik (virtually), besides other concerned officers.
During the review, the Administrative Secretary sought detailed feedback on the functioning of public utilities, including Panchayat Ghars and Panchayat Ghar complexes, with special emphasis on the installation and operationalization of smart metering systems.
She reviewed the MGNREGA action plans, progress under ODF Plus Model Villages, Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) and other flagship rural development programmes. The ACD, Kargil, was directed to submit a report on the status of Common Service Centres (CSCs), Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs), Solid Waste Management Units, Awaas Plus, PMAY-G, NRLM, RGSA, besides other ongoing schemes.
The Administrative Secretary stressed the need to ensure that all created infrastructure and machinery are made fully functional, and stressed the importance of effective convergence of schemes to maximize developmental impact. She also directed officials to ensure 100 percent Aadhaar seeding of beneficiaries who have availed government schemes, to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Besides this, she also reviewed the proposed ₹13.85 crore Rock Garden project at Suru, and sought updates on its planning and implementation aspects.
