EC Kacho Mohd Feroz Graces Closing Ceremony of Ice Speed Skating Training Camp in Kargil.
Kargil, February 6, 2026: Executive Councillor (Tourism), LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz today graced the closing ceremony of the Advanced Training Camp in Ice Short Track Speed Skating for Boys and Girls at the Ice Hockey Rink, Beamathang, Kargil.
The six-day training camp was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kargil, in collaboration with the Ladakh Ice Skating Association, from 31 January to 6 February, as part of efforts to nurture young talent in winter sports.
On the occasion, Issa Khan, Accounts Officer, Youth Services and Sports Ladakh; Tai Suru Zonal Physical Education Officer Mohd Ishaq; President Ladakh Ice Skating Association Mohd Abass Nordaq; Vice President Kacho Ahmad; DYSSO Kargil, officials of the department, coaches, and other dignitaries were present.
Addressing the gathering, EC Kacho Mohd Feroz thanked the Ladakh Ice Skating Association for successfully organising the camp and appreciated the participation of young boys and girls, encouraging them to realise their full potential as athletes. He urged the participants to continue training with dedication and aim to represent Kargil district and Ladakh at national and international levels.
Highlighting the role of expert coaching, EC Feroz said that Mohd Abass Nordaq, an international speed skating coach and Indian Junior Team coach, is a great asset for the region, and his guidance for skaters in Kargil and Leh is a matter of fortune. He assured full support from LAHDC Kargil, including exploring possibilities for providing sports equipment through the Capex budget.
The EC also lauded the achievements of boys and girls who have previously represented Ladakh and won medals, expressing hope that such advanced training camps will continue to benefit the youth of Kargil district. He stressed the need for discipline-specific and focused training and asked that coaching programmes be continued consistently.
Sharing the Council’s vision, EC Feroz said that LAHDC Kargil is committed to promoting winter sports and informed that a proposal for a round-the-year chilling facility has already been taken up, with administrative approval expected soon. He also directed the Youth Services and Sports Department to raise relevant issues and hold discussions with the Council for further strengthening sports infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohd Abass Nordaq requested continued support from LAHDC Kargil, DYSSO Kargil, and the Council for organising more advanced training camps in the future to prepare athletes for higher-level competitions.
At the end of the programme, certificates were distributed among the participating children, marking the successful conclusion of the training camp.
