Leh, March 10, 2024 — EJM Government Degree College Leh celebrated International Women’s Day with enthusiasm on March 10, 2024, to honor women’s achievements, promote gender equality, and inspire students.
The event began with the arrival of Chief Guest, Mrs. Bhanuprabha, IAS, Secretary of Higher Education, who was welcomed by Principal Prof. Stanzin Yangdol. The program was inaugurated by Assistant Professor Mohd Taqi, with dignitaries including Dr. Tsewang Motup, Ms. Ibtisum Iqbal, Ms. Rigzin Angmo, and guests from CII Foundation.
After the national anthem and lamp lighting, the Principal delivered a welcome address on empowering women through education. Ms. Ibtisum Iqbal highlighted women’s contributions and encouraged young women to aim higher.
The event marked the launch of the college magazine, ‘Senge Khabab’.The Chief Guest, Mrs. Bhanuprabha, appreciated alumni, emphasized celebrating women daily, and urged girls to pursue meaningful careers and ventures, supporting each other in the process.
Students were felicitated for achievements in sports, NCC, and academics. Certificates were also presented to CII Foundation, with tokens of appreciation to the Chief Guest.
Speakers included AP Jaspreet Singh, who recited poetry, and Rigzin Angmo, who encouraged students to serve their communities and dream big. A documentary, Women: A Journey to Empowerment in Kargil, was screened, showcasing inspiring stories of women.
The event concluded with the felicitation of internship students and vote of thanks from AP Hajira Bano, HOD, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism.
The dignitaries appreciated students’ achievements and emphasized ongoing empowerment, fostering gender equality and celebrating women’s resilience in Ladakh.
