Kargil, March 12, 2026: The Khidmat-e-Awaam initiative, with the theme “Administration at your doorstep” under the Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore campaign, was held at Trespone A in Sankoo Subdivision, aiming to ensure doorstep delivery of government services and on-the-spot redressal of public grievances.
The programme was attended by Executive Councillor Syed Mujtaba, SDM Sankoo Saleem Wazir, BMO Sankoo, BDO TSG, Nambardars, subdivisional officers and officials from various departments, besides a large gathering of local residents.
During the programme, officers from different departments highlighted various government schemes and programmes related to horticulture, agriculture, irrigation and flood control, health, rural development, cooperative, animal husbandry, forest, education and PHE, informing villagers about available benefits and procedures for availing them.
The Horticulture Department informed the public about plantation schemes providing 75 percent subsidy, offering assistance of around ₹1.25 lakh for two kanal plantation, along with fencing facilities. Nambardars raised concerns regarding availability of land for beneficiaries.
The Agriculture Department highlighted schemes including solar projects for winter vegetable cultivation, PM-Kisan Yojana, and promotion of vermi-compost units for converting biodegradable waste into organic manure. Officials encouraged villagers to adopt kitchen gardening for better health and nutrition. Residents also demanded adequate supply of urea fertilizer, noting that the area produces barley and wheat, and stressed the need for transparency in fertilizer distribution.
The Irrigation and Flood Control Department informed the public about canal repair works under the CAPEX budget, especially in flood-affected areas.
The Health Department, represented by the BMO Sankoo, highlighted schemes including Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health programmes, Janani Suraksha Yojana, immunization services, anaemia screening, tuberculosis control programme, and hypertension screening with free medicines. The public was also informed about the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh for beneficiaries.
Residents raised issues regarding shortage of OT assistant, dental assistant, ward extension at the Community Health Centre, and the need for availability of Date of Birth certificates at TSG Block. The BDO advised the public to apply for the certificates online through the government portal.
Officials from ICDS highlighted supplementary nutrition schemes for children and mothers, while the Rural Development Department informed about NRLM Self Help Groups (SHGs) promoting local product manufacturing and income generation.
The Animal Husbandry Department discussed cattle numbering, vaccination programmes and KCC loans ranging from ₹80,000 to ₹90,000 for livestock farmers.
Issues related to teacher shortages, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and village-level waste management were also raised during the programme. The concerned departments assured that the issues would be addressed at the earliest.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Councillor Syed Mujtaba emphasized that all departments must make sincere efforts to resolve public grievances promptly, stating that the aim of the Khidmat-e-Awaam initiative is to ensure effective delivery of government services at the grassroots level.
SDM Sankoo Saleem Wazir said the programme aims to create awareness about various schemes and ensure quick redressal of public grievances. He also highlighted the importance of digitization and online services such as ST and LRC applications, which have been introduced to make administrative processes easier for citizens.
The programme concluded with directions to the concerned officials to resolve the issues raised by the public and submit necessary reports to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Kargil.
