GDC Khaltsi Hosts One-Day Awareness Programme on Intellectual Property Rights.

Government Degree College Khaltsi organised a one-day awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), conducted by PHDCCI under the Ministry of MSME, to sensitise students to innovation, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property protection.
The programme commenced with an introduction by Mr. Stanzin Stamdin, Assistant Professor of English, who also introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Mohd. Shahid Khan, Convenor, Education Committee, PHDCCI. The Principal felicitated the speaker with a traditional khatak.
In his address, Mr. Khan highlighted key challenges in employability and stressed the importance of communication skills, adaptability, and continuous learning. He outlined the three pillars of success—knowledge, skills, and attitude—and cautioned students about the risk of job displacement due to rapid technological advancements, urging them to upgrade their competencies and pursue goal-oriented efforts.
Emphasising innovation, he encouraged students to identify gaps and develop solutions, noting that every solution has the potential to become a viable business idea. He also discussed emerging opportunities in technological creation, manufacturing, and trading, while underlining the gradual shift from job dependency to entrepreneurship.
The core session covered major aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and geographical indications, along with their role in protecting innovation and enhancing brand value. The processes of patent and trademark registration, as well as IPR monetisation models such as licensing, franchising, and technology transfer, were also explained with relevant examples.
The programme concluded with the message that innovation, combined with protection and strategic strategy, leads to sustainable growth and value creation. The event ended with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Professor Stanzin Stamdin, expressing gratitude for the insightful and thought-provoking session.
