The programme was attended by Naib Tehsildar Drass, Sh. Ibrahim Khan, Councillor Bhimbat Abdul Wahid, and BDO Drass Shahid Sultan, along with officials from various line departments.
During the interaction, villagers highlighted several pressing concerns pertaining to basic infrastructure, healthcare, education, irrigation, and public services.
Issues raised included the need for proper planning under Gram Sabha initiatives, desilting and maintenance of irrigation khuls, and ensuring a consistent water supply for irrigation purposes. Residents also demanded the construction of a Common Sanitary Complex and improvement in waste management systems.
In the agriculture and horticulture sector, locals sought support for solar fencing to protect crops, establishment of farm houses, and plantation drives particularly for apricot and apple cultivation. The need for cattle sheds and assistance for livestock management was also emphasized.
Healthcare-related concerns featured prominently, with villagers demanding the establishment of a Medical Center at Upper Kharboo due to the distant location of the existing sub-center. They also highlighted the need for ambulance services and upgradation of the Primary Health Centre. Shortage of staff, particularly science and mathematics teachers, was raised along with the demand for additional teaching staff at local schools and improvement of sanitation facilities in schools.
Issues related to infrastructure included repair and renovation of footpaths along Zamindari Khuls, desilting and strengthening of irrigation channels, and construction of lift irrigation facilities to address water scarcity during summer. Residents also flagged problems of leakages in water tanks and pipelines, and sought immediate attention to soakage pits and drainage systems.
Further, concerns regarding installation and maintenance of street lights, electrification issues including poles and wiring, and land-related matters such as revenue and KCC issues were brought to the notice.
The need for repair and renovation of the Community Hall at Kharboo was also highlighted during the programme.
The Naib Tehsildar and other officials gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured the public that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned departments for timely redressal. They emphasised the importance of such outreach programmes in strengthening public-administration interface and ensuring grassroots-level development.
The programme concluded with Sham-e-Awaam and vote of thanks and a renewed commitment from the administration to address the concerns of the people in a time-bound manner.
