Lababs Barsoo Delegation Flags Water Issues in meeting with CEC Kargil.
Kargil, April 10, 2026: A delegation of villagers from Lababs Barsoo called on the Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today to apprise him of several pressing issues concerning their area.
During the interaction, the delegation highlighted key concerns, particularly the need for a solar lift irrigation scheme and the augmentation of drinking water facilities in the village. They emphasized that the absence of adequate irrigation infrastructure has been affecting agricultural productivity, while irregular drinking water supply continues to cause hardship to the residents.
Taking serious note of the issues raised, the CEC assured the delegation of timely intervention and directed the Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed lift irrigation scheme. He further instructed that the proposal be incorporated in the District Capex Plan for the upcoming financial year to ensure its early execution.
Dr. Akhoon reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening rural infrastructure and ensuring sustainable water resource management across Kargil district.
The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Ghulam Hussain, Junior Engineer Mohd Ibrahim, and members of the Lababs Barsoo delegation.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the CEC for his patient hearing and proactive approach towards resolving their issues, and hoped for early redressal of their concerns.
