Kargil, April 22, 2026: Under the flagship initiative “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore”, the Khidmat-e-Awaam Programme was conducted today at village Yourbaltak, with officials of the District Administration reaching out directly to residents to listen to their concerns and resolve grievances at their doorsteps.
The day-long public outreach programme was spearheaded by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Shabbir Hussain; Councillor Yourbaltak, Manzoor Hussain, along with the Block Development Officer (BDO) Kargil, CDPO Kargil, ZEO Kargil, and officials from various departments including PDD, RDD, I&FC, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Cooperative, Horticulture, Agriculture, as well as other line departments and banking institutions.
During the first phase of the programme, the ADC Kargil outlined the aims and roadmap of the initiative. He informed the gathering that, in accordance with the directions of the Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, the District Administration has rolled out this programme to enhance direct interaction between the administration and the public. He highlighted that issues requiring immediate redressal would be settled on the spot, while matters involving higher authorities would be forwarded to the concerned departments. Councillor Poyen appreciated the efforts of departmental officers for visiting the village and stated that the initiative would play a vital role in addressing public grievances efficiently.
Officials from various departments also briefed the villagers on different ongoing government welfare schemes to ensure greater awareness and wider participation among eligible beneficiaries.
During the interaction, people from Yourbaltak brought forth several demands and grievances. The issues raised largely concerned road connectivity, irrigation and water channels, improvement of school and sports infrastructure, relocation of electric poles, drinking water supply under JJM, agricultural land-related matters, and other development-related concerns.
Later in the day, the ADC, accompanied by concerned officers, visited different sites in Yourbaltak to personally assess the issues raised by the residents. Necessary on-the-spot directions were issued to departmental officers for early and priority-based resolution of the grievances.
The second phase of the programme, commonly referred to as “Sham-e-Awaam”, was organised in the evening, wherein villagers once again assembled to discuss prospective development plans for village Yourbaltak in coordination with the administration. The discussions mainly revolved around cleanliness, sanitation, and environmental hygiene.
The initiative was warmly welcomed by the residents, who lauded the efforts of the District Administration for taking governance to the grassroots level and encouraging participatory planning.
