Leh, May 09, 2026: The Department of Sociology and the Department of Economics, Eliezer Joldan Memorial (EJM) College Leh, jointly organised a three-day Field Work cum Exposure Tour to Sankoo, Kargil, which concluded successfully.
The programme was formally flagged off from the college campus on April 07 under the guidance and patronage of the Principal of EJM College, Prof. Stanzin Yangdol.
Students of 4th and 6th semesters from the major streams participated in the educational tour aimed at providing practical exposure and experiential learning opportunities.
The field visit was organised with the objective of enabling students to relate theoretical concepts with the prevailing socio-economic realities of rural communities, particularly focusing on the role of women in Sankoo village of Kargil district.

As part of the academic exposure programme, faculty members and students also visited Government Degree College Kargil, where they held interactions with faculty members and students, facilitating academic exchange and institutional exposure. The tour further included visits to historically significant sites in Kargil district.
The Departments expressed gratitude to the Principal, Prof. Stanzin Yangdol, for the support and encouragement in successfully organising the programme.
Appreciation was also extended to the residents of Sankoo village, Dr. Mohd. Taqee, Mr. Dawa Dorjey, and all concerned for ensuring safe boarding, lodging, transportation, and warm hospitality throughout the visit.
