Kargil, May 13, 2026: Under the initiative “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore”, the Khidmat-e-Awam Programme was organised today at village Choskore, where officials of the District Administration reached out to the public at their doorsteps to address grievances on the spot.
The day-long public outreach programme was led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil, Jahangir Akhoon, and Naib Tehsildar Kargil. It was attended by officers from various departments, including RDD, I&FC, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Agriculture, Handloom, Tourism, and other line departments.
In the first phase of the programme, ACR Kargil Jahangir Akhoon briefed the gathering about the objectives and agenda of the initiative. He informed the public that, on the directions of the Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, the District Administration has launched this programme to ensure direct engagement between government officials and citizens. He emphasised that grievances requiring immediate attention would be resolved on the spot, while matters needing higher-level intervention would be taken up with the concerned departmental heads.
Officers from various departments also apprised the public about ongoing welfare schemes to create awareness of their benefits and ensure maximum enrolment of eligible beneficiaries.
During the interaction, representatives from different mohallas of village Choskore raised several issues and grievances. The concerns mainly pertained to road connectivity, irrigation and water channels, school infrastructure and transport, maintenance of sports infrastructure, drinking water supply under JJM, agricultural land issues, waste collection, sanitation, and other village-specific developmental matters.
Later, the ACR and Naib Tehsildar Kargil visited various locations within the village to personally listen to the residents’ grievances. They issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned departmental officers to address the issues on a priority basis. During the visit, the ACR inaugurated the community library and handed it over to the ZEO.
The ACR issued key instructions to different departments that include, promote the NAKTUL trekking point, organise registration camps for Handloom at different locations, including Grong and Chutuk, conduct a plantation drive by the Forest Department at different schools in Choskore village, install an Ultra Small Branch (USB) for the convenience of senior citizens to withdraw their pensions and for other banking services, take measures to maintain cleanliness and environmental hygiene in the village and bring choskore village onto the tourism map of Kargil.
