ADDC Kargil Reviews JNV Khumbathang Infrastructure, Orders Swift Action on Winter Preparedness & Facilities.
Kargil, May 20, 2026: A meeting of the Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Khumbathang was held today under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner Kargil Ghulam Mohd (JKAS) to review the overall functioning and infrastructural requirements of the institution.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on several important issues related to the welfare of students and smooth functioning of the school, particularly during the winter season. The committee discussed improvement of the heating system, insulation and replacement of water supply pipes, upgradation of the electricity transformer from 250 KVA to 450 KVA, strengthening emergency health facilities, and ensuring uninterrupted electricity and food supplies during winters.
The meeting also reviewed the requirement of a new vehicle for the institution, arrangements for winter gas supply, provision of wood and coal for emergency purposes, installation of beds for the new dormitory, repair and maintenance of internal roads, and enhancement of sanitation facilities including construction of additional Ladakhi toilets for students. Fuel supply for the generator set during winter months was also discussed in detail.
During the meeting, the ADDC directed the concerned departments to take immediate necessary measures for addressing the issues raised by the institution. He instructed the concerned authorities to expedite the process for various developmental works at the earliest. On the spot, directions were issued regarding establishment of an agriculture greenhouse for the institution, while the Power Development Department (PDD) was asked to explore the possibility of providing a dedicated electricity line to JNV Khumbathang to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The ADDC also assured full support through CAPEX and other available budgetary provisions for strengthening the institution’s infrastructure and facilities. Stressing the importance of students’ welfare, health, and future, he stated that the Administration remains fully committed to supporting educational institutions and creating a better environment for children in the coming years.
He further advised the institution to focus more on innovation, practical learning, and skill-oriented activities so that students can bring positive changes in society while securing their own future. He emphasized that educational institutions should encourage students to adopt practical approaches and creative thinking alongside academics.
The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Councillor 19-Saliskote Constituency Mohd Sajjad Khan, Executive Engineer SVD Sankoo, Principal of JNV Khumbathang Raj Kumar, Chief Planning Officer Kargil Kacho Mohd Hussain, Principal Boys Higher Secondary School, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Trespone, senior faculty members, and parent representatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Principal JNV Khumbathang Raj Kumar expressed gratitude to the Administration and all members present for patiently listening to the issues and concerns of the institution. He appreciated the cooperation and assurances extended during the meeting and expressed hope that the identified works and developmental initiatives would be completed successfully with collective efforts. He further stated that the institution is making continuous efforts to ensure that the proposed works are taken up and completed at the earliest possible.
