DC Kargil Reviews Vibrant Village Programme-II, Calls for Coordinated Action to Boost Rural Development.
Kargil, May 25, 2026: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar today chaired a review meeting at his office chamber regarding the implementation and progress of the Vibrant Village Programme-II (VVP-II) in the district.
The meeting was attended by officers and representatives of various concerned departments including Education, Health, R&B, PHE, PDD, Sports and other allied sectors.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the existing gaps and challenges in the identified VVP-II villages and directed the concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive action plan for timely mitigation of the issues.
He emphasized coordinated efforts among departments for effective implementation of developmental initiatives in the Vibrant Villages.
Detailed discussions were also held on several developmental proposals and public welfare initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in the identified villages. The meeting discussed strengthening of education and healthcare facilities, improvement of road connectivity, development of footpaths and installation of solar street lights along with individual solar connections. Stress was also laid on employment generation opportunities and sustainable infrastructure development in the villages.
Various suggestions including development of gardens for senior citizens, creation of an artificial lake to promote tourism potential and planned urban-style village development were also deliberated upon during the meeting. Thasgam was further recommended for inclusion under high-mass survey and developmental planning.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for planned and sustainable development with focus on modern infrastructure, improved civic amenities and better public service delivery in the Vibrant Villages.
