DC Kargil Engages Entrepreneurs, Assures Support to Boost Local Industries and Business Growth.
Kargil, May 25, 2026: On the directions of the Worthy Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, the Deputy Commissioner/CEO, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar chaired an interaction meeting with around 20 major entrepreneurs of the district at Conference Hall, Baroo, in the presence of the General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC) Kargil, to understand and address the issues and challenges being faced by entrepreneurs of the district.
The meeting witnessed participation from entrepreneurs belonging to various sectors including apricot processing units, oyster mushroom cultivation, wood carving and furniture making, dairy products, bakery units, online digital food delivery services, cloth designing, handloom and handicraft products, cement brick manufacturing units, and other emerging business sectors of the district.
During the meeting, the entrepreneurs highlighted several key issues affecting the growth of industries and enterprises in the district, particularly challenges related to packaging, branding, marketing, transportation of goods, and the non-availability of land for establishment and expansion of industrial units. The entrepreneurs also shared their success stories and experiences, reflecting the growing entrepreneurial spirit and business potential in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts and contributions of the entrepreneurs towards employment generation and economic development of the district. He assured the participants that the district administration, as well as the UT Administration, remains fully committed to extending all possible support and handholding to the entrepreneurial community.
The DC further stated that every necessary assistance at both district and UT level would be provided to facilitate the growth, promotion, and sustainability of local enterprises and industries in Kargil.
