    DC Drass leads ‘Clean Humas, Green Humas’ Cleanliness Drive in Rambipura Market and Surrounding localities.
    Drass, May 30, 2026: In order to ensure that Drass remains clean and to bring about behavioral change among citizens, a full-day cleanliness drive was held in Rambipura Market of Drass and its surroundings. The campaign, conceptualized under the ‘Clean Humas, Green Humas’ theme/slogan was led by Deputy Commissioner, Imteeaz Kacho and was joined by Superintendent of Police, Ishtiyaq Kacho. The cleanliness drive also became a precursor to the forthcoming ‘Swachh Surakshit Jalvayu’ campaign scheduled to be held from 1st June and would conclude on the occasion of World Environment Day i.e. 5th June. The event was organized by Block Development Officer, Drass, DR. Amin Naqvi and his team and was duly supported by Block Development Officer, Bhimbet, Abdullah Jan.
    The cleanliness drive witnessed enthusiastic and actgive participation of all Sectoral Heads,employees of Departments, Religious Leaders, representatives of the Merchant Association, Taxi Union members, members of Baseej-e-Iman IKMT Wing of Drass, volunteers, ex-servicemen, local residents and students. Saplings were also planted by the dignitaries at Tourist Dak Bungalow, Higher Secondary School and DC Office with the help of the Forest Department, led by Range Officer Mohammad Ilyaz, as part of the ongoing efforts to promote environmental conservation and forestation.
    Participants actively engaged in cleaning public spaces and planting saplings to enhance the green cover of the area. Further, the Deputy Commissioner led a team of officials, volunteers and residents to clean the stream flowing through Rambipura Market. Different kinds of waste stuck in the water channel was removed, the embankments were strengthened and the channel of the stream was widened to ensure free flow of water. The outlets of toilets directed towards the stream were also plugged.
    While addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and protecting the environment through collective community efforts. He appreciated the active participation of all stakeholders and urged the public to continue supporting such initiatives for a cleaner, greener, and healthier Drass.
    The Superintendent of Police also highlighted the role of public cooperation in ensuring the success of such community-driven campaigns and encouraged citizens to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives.
    The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to work together towards preserving the environment and maintaining cleanliness across the District.
