DC Kargil Reviews Preparedness for the Upcoming House Listing and Housing Operations under Census 2027.
Kargil, May 30, 2026: A review meeting regarding preparedness for the upcoming House Listing and Housing Operations (HLO) under Census 2027, scheduled to be conducted from 01 June to 30 June 2026, was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner/Principal Census Officer, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, in his Office Chamber.
The meeting was attended virtually by the Deputy Commissioners of Drass and Zanskar, Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars/Census Charge Officers and other concerned officials. Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kargil Ghulam Mohammad and Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Kargil Kacho Mohammad Hussain attended the meeting in person.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the overall preparedness for the House Listing and Housing Operations, including the progress of House Listing Blocks (HLBs), their formation, demarcation and allocation. Detailed discussions were held on operational arrangements, field-level coordination and measures required for the smooth conduct of the census exercise across the district.
Emphasizing the importance of quality data collection, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers to complete the enumeration process within the first fifteen days of the operation so that sufficient time remains for verification, validation and correction of data. He stressed that accuracy, completeness and reliability must be maintained throughout the census process.
The Deputy Commissioner also laid special emphasis on the enumeration of migratory populations and instructed all field functionaries to ensure that no individual or household is left out during the exercise. He called for a proactive approach to identify and cover migratory and remote populations so that the census reflects a complete and accurate picture of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner further urged all officers to work in close coordination and adhere strictly to the prescribed guidelines for Census 2027. He reiterated that the success of the House Listing and Housing Operations depends on meticulous planning, effective supervision and dedicated field implementation. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to ensure the successful conduct of the census exercise and uphold the highest standards of data quality and coverage.
