    Nyoma Forest Range Launches Major Plantation Drive on World Environment Day 2026.
    Nyoma, June 5, 2026:-
    In celebration of World Environment Day 2026, the Nyoma Forest Range organized a large-scale plantation drive across various locations in Changthang District under the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation, ecological restoration, and sustainable development.
    The plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from Forest Department officials, Indian Army personnel, local residents, and environmental volunteers. A total of 600 saplings were planted at different locations across the region with the objective of increasing green cover and promoting environmental awareness among the public.
    The plantation was carried out as follows:
    * 200 saplings planted at the Indian Army Unit, Nyoma
    * 150 saplings planted at the Go Green Area of Nyoma Forest Range
    * 200 saplings planted at Teri Village
    * 50 saplings planted within the premises of the Forest Range Office, Nyoma
    Speaking on the occasion, officials of the Nyoma Forest Range emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in protecting nature and combating the challenges posed by climate change. They highlighted that the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” symbolizes gratitude towards mothers while simultaneously encouraging citizens to contribute towards a greener and healthier environment by planting and nurturing trees.
    The Forest Department appealed to all residents, institutions, and organizations across Changthang to actively participate in afforestation initiatives and ensure the survival and growth of planted saplings. The department reiterated that environmental conservation is not only a governmental responsibility but a shared duty of every citizen.
    The plantation drive concluded with a pledge by participants to continue working towards preserving the fragile ecosystem of the high-altitude Changthang region and to promote sustainable environmental practices for future generations.
