Nubra, June 20, 2026: As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Nubra, Shri Mukul Beniwal, IAS, a district-wide sensitisation programme on the ban of Single-Use Plastic (SUP) was conducted across various locations in Nubra District on June 20, 2026.
The awareness programme was created among the public regarding the harmful effects of plastic pollution and the importance of adopting environmentally sustainable practices. The campaign covered Diskit Market, Hunder, Sumoor, Tigger, T-morh, Khalsar, Disket Chamba and several villages across the district.
Members of the public, wholesalers, shopkeepers, greengrocers, and vendors were sensitised about the ban on identified Single-Use Plastic items and encouraged to adopt eco-friendly alternatives in their daily activities
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to the strict enforcement of the ban on identified Single-Use Plastic and littering items across Nubra District. He emphasized the need for collective public participation in protecting the environment and ensuring effective implementation of the ban.
The administration also warned that strict action will be taken against individuals or establishments found using, stocking, or selling banned plastic items, as per the prescribed rules and regulations.
