Awareness Campaign on Ban of Single-Use Plastic Conducted in Rural Areas of District Kargil.
In compliance with the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kargil,Shri Rakesh Kumar IAS , the Rural Development Department, Kargil, organized awareness programmes on ban on Single-Use Plastic (SUP) across various rural areas of district.
The awareness activities were conducted through Block Development Offices of Shakar Chiktan, Paskum and Barsoo, where officials of RDD , interacted with shopkeepers, vendors, and members of the general public to create awareness regarding the Government’s ban on Single-Use Plastic.
During the campaign, participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of Single-Use Plastic on the environment and public health. They were informed about the prohibited SUP items and encouraged to adopt eco-friendly alternatives, avoid littering and burning of plastic waste, and ensure proper segregation and scientific disposal of waste.
Officials of Rural Development Department appealed to all residents, commercial establishments and institutions to strictly comply with the Government’s directions on ban on Single-Use Plastic and actively contribute towards maintaining clean, green and plastic-free villages.
Similar awareness programmes will continue across all blocks of District Kargil to ensure effective implementation of the Government’s directions and to promote environmental conservation in rural areas.
