Deputy Commissioner Drass Chairs Preparatory Meeting for Sarhad Shauryathon – 2026.
Drass, July 02, 2026: Deputy Commissioner, District Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS) today chaired a high-level preparatory meeting in his Office Chamber to review and finalize arrangements for the Sarhad Shauryathon (2026) scheduled to be held on 5th July, 2026.
The meeting was attended by the Superintendent of Police, Drass; Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Drass; Block Medical Officer, Drass; Major Vishnu Naidoo of 16 Grenadiers; Zonal Education Officer, Drass; Zonal Physical Education Officer, Drass; Inspector, RD & PR; Junior Engineers of R&B and PHE. The meeting was also attended by the Hon’ble Councillors of Bhimbat and Ranbirpora Constituencies of LAHDC-Kargil as well as Mr. Vasant Gokhale of Sarhad Shauryathon and his team.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed all logistical, security, medical and coordination arrangements to ensure the smooth, safe and successful conduct of the marathon. Issues regarding vehicle parking for participants and visitors and timings of the marathon were discussed in detail.
The Superintendent of Police was directed to make comprehensive arrangements for security, traffic regulation, crowd management and participant safety, with special emphasis on the safety of school students participating in the event. The Block Medical Officer was instructed to establish a fully equipped medical camp at the venue, deploy ambulances, medical personnel and emergency response teams.
Instructions were also passed for undertaking necessary patchwork, cleaning and maintenance of the marathon route to ensure a safe running surface for participants. The Departments of Information & Public Relations and Youth Services & Sports were directed to undertake their assignments responsibly. The Deputy Commissioner directed all Departments to ensure full participation of their employees apart from urging civil society to participate in huge numbers.
In line with the commitment towards environmental conservation, Deputy Commissioner passed strict instructions to all concerned that the venue and marathon routes should be cleaned properly right after the conclusion. He directed that dustbins should be placed at critical spots.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of close inter-departmental coordination and directed all concerned departments to complete their assigned responsibilities well in advance to ensure the successful, safe and seamless conclusion of the Shauryathon.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all stakeholders to work in coordination for making the event a grand success, promoting patriotism, fitness, community participation and environmental awareness.
