An awareness programme on the Single-Use Plastic (SUP) Ban was conducted today at Liker Panchayat Hall to create awareness about the implementation of the ban in the Union Territory of Ladakh, in accordance with the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026.
The programme was attended by SDM Shri Gurmit Namgail and BDO Shri Manzur Hussain, who briefed the participants on the provisions of the SUP ban and its effective implementation in the Panchayat Halqa. They emphasized the harmful impact of single-use plastics on the environment and appealed to all participants to actively support the complete ban on single-use plastics.
The speakers encouraged the community to adopt eco-friendly alternatives, maintain cleanliness, and work collectively towards making the Panchayat a plastic-free and environmentally sustainable area.
