MP Ladakh Chairs Review Meeting on RDSS, PMDP and Smart Metering Projects.
Kargil, July 16, 2026: Member of Parliament, UT Ladakh, today chaired a review meeting to discuss the effective implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP), and the progress of Smart Metering projects in Kargil.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS; Chief Engineer, Distribution, Ladakh; Superintending Engineer, UT Ladakh; Executive Engineer, Power Development Department (PDD), Kargil; General Manager, NHPC; besides engineers and technical officials from the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) and Ladakh Power Distribution Corporation Limited (LPDCL).
During the meeting, the Member of Parliament reviewed the physical and financial progress of projects being implemented under RDSS and PMDP and assessed the status of smart metering works across the district. Officials briefed the Chair on the achievements made so far, ongoing works, project timelines and the challenges affecting implementation.
The meeting also discussed measures to strengthen the power distribution network, improve electricity infrastructure, reduce transmission and distribution losses, and ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers. Particular emphasis was laid on the timely installation of smart meters and the completion of infrastructure development under the RDSS.
The Member of Parliament stressed the importance of close coordination among all implementing agencies to ensure that the projects are completed within the stipulated timelines. He directed the concerned departments to address bottlenecks on priority and maintain regular monitoring so that the benefits of the schemes reach the people without delay.
The officials from the executing agencies assured the meeting that all ongoing works would be expedited and necessary steps would be taken to ensure the successful implementation of the schemes in accordance with the approved timelines.
