SDM Sankoo Resolves Long-Pending 220 KV Transmission Tower Issue, Clears Way for Resumption of Work.
Sankoo, July 17, 2026: Acting on the directions of the Worthy Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sankoo, Shri Waseem Ramzan Dar (JKAS), conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed 220 KV Transmission Tower (Tower No. 220A) installation site, where the work had remained unresolved for the past four years.
The inspection was attended by all concerned stakeholders, including the executing agencies and the affected landowner. Through constructive dialogue and mutual consultation, the SDM addressed the apprehensions and grievances of the affected landowner, took all stakeholders into confidence, and facilitated an amicable resolution of the long-pending issue.
During the inspection, the matter relating to the road alignment passing adjacent to the tower site was also examined. The earlier conflict between the road project and the transmission tower alignment was resolved on the spot, thereby removing the impediments affecting both projects.
Following the resolution, the SDM directed the concerned executing agencies to immediately resume the pending works, as all obstacles have now been removed.
The timely intervention reflects the district administration’s commitment, under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, to resolving public issues through dialogue, ensuring smooth implementation of vital infrastructure projects, and safeguarding the interests of all stakeholders.
