CEC Chairs Meeting on Summer Vacation for Schools across Kargil.
Kargil, July 17, 2026: Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today chaired a meeting to review and finalize the schedule for summer vacation in schools across Kargil district.
After detailed deliberations on the prevailing weather conditions, the academic calendar, and the overall welfare of students and teaching staff, the meeting approved the proposal for summer vacation in schools across the district. A separate notification regarding the vacation schedule will be issued by the concerned department.
During the meeting, the CEC appreciated the Deputy Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar (IAS), for the reforms undertaken in the Education Department, particularly the implementation of the teacher transfer policy. He also acknowledged the efforts being made to address issues related to school infrastructure and to improve the quality of education in government schools across the district.
Dr. Akhoon emphasized that the Council remains committed to strengthening the education sector through coordinated efforts, improved infrastructure, transparent administration, and student-centric initiatives to ensure quality education for every child in Kargil.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor Er. Punchok Tashi; Executive Councillor Agha Syed Mujtaba Musavi; Deputy Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar (IAS); Principal, DIET Kargil; Chief Education Officer, Kargil, Sonam Wangchuk; and other concerned officers.
