    GDC-Drass Organizes Valedictory Function of PM-USHA Workshop; Signs MOU with Charkha Development Communication Network, New Delhi.
    Drass, July 6, 2026: The valedictory programme of the five-day PM-USHA Workshop on Women Leadership-Life Skills & Menstrual Health and Hygiene, and Stop Motion Animation was organized at Government Degree College (GDC), Drass. Deputy Commissioner, Drass, Imteeaz Kacho attended the event as chief guest. The event was facilitated by Swati Bhatt and Agyatmitra, Practitioners of Play for Peace and members of the Charkha Development Communication Network, New Delhi, Ananya and Nitin.
    The programme commenced with a welcome address by the College Principal Nasirul Mehdi Shabani. He highlighted the objectives and achievements of the five-day workshop and emphasized the importance of strengthening leadership of young women, life skills, menstrual health awareness and creative learning through stop-motion animation. He also announced that menstrual cups, provided by Baqirya Health Centre, would be distributed among the participants to promote menstrual health and hygiene.
    Significantly a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between GDC-Drass and Charkha Development Communication Network in presence of the Deputy Commissioner. The MoU aims at strengthening future collaboration in organizing capacity-building programmes and youth development initiatives.
    In her address, Ananya thanked GDC-Drass for inviting the Charkha team to conduct the workshop and appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of all participants throughout the programme. She pointed out that working with the students and faculty had been a rewarding experience and that they had also learned a great deal from the participants. She informed the audience that a Youth Club had been formed to continue working on the themes covered during the workshop and assured the participants that Charkha would remain connected with them and provide all possible support in the future. A group of seven Girl Participants will be the Core group who will be further trained to become Resource Persons to further organise workshops in schools and other institutions.
    The attraction of the function was a combined short Stop Motion Animation film, prepared by the participants during the workshop, screened before the audience. The film showcased the activities, learning experiences and outcomes of the five-day workshop, including the stop-motion animation created by the participants, which received wide appreciation from everyone present.
    The programme continued with the distribution of gifts in the form of menstrual cups, coffee mugs and certificates among the participants. The resource persons were also felicitated with traditional khataqs and souvenirs by the Deputy Commissioner in recognition of their valuable contribution and dedicated efforts in making the workshop a success.
    Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated GDC-Drass for successfully organizing such a meaningful programme under PM-USHA. He appreciated the initiative taken by the college and particularly praised the stop-motion animation film prepared by the participants. He highlighted the positive outcomes of PM-USHA and its role in promoting quality education, skill development and holistic growth among students. He expressed his confidence that the college would continue organizing more such innovative and impactful programmes in the future. He thanked the resource persons for visiting Drass and particularly for helping the college students to enhance their skills and channelizing their skills.
    The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sajjad Hussain. The entire five-day workshop, including the valedictory programme, was coordinated by Shujat Ali Mir, Co-Convener, PM-USHA, GDC-Drass.
