ADDC Reviews Road Construction Issues in Silmo–Batalik, Directs Coordination to Ensure Uninterrupted Essential Services.
Kargil, July 20:
The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kargil Ghulam Mohd (JKAS) chaired a meeting to discuss issues arising from road construction works in the Silmo–Batalik area, particularly the damage caused to electricity infrastructure due to blasting activities.
The meeting was attended by Councillor, Silmo Constituency, Feroz Ahmad Khan, officers of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the Power Development Department (PDD), the concerned contractor and other officials.
During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on the damage caused to electricity poles and power lines during road construction works. The meeting emphasized the need for close coordination among all stakeholder departments to ensure that developmental works are carried out without disrupting essential public services.
The ADDC directed the concerned road executing agency, the contractor and BRO officials that no blasting or excavation works should be undertaken without obtaining the necessary permissions and approvals from the concerned departments. He further instructed that all future works should be executed only after taking the concerned departments into confidence and obtaining the required No Objection Certificates (NOCs), wherever applicable, so that inconvenience to the public is avoided.
He stressed that electricity and drinking water are essential public services and must not be affected during the execution of developmental works.
The ADDC also directed the concerned authorities and the PDD contractor to immediately restore the damaged electricity poles and other affected infrastructure at the site within a fixed timeline and ensure effective coordination among all stakeholders.
Speaking during the meeting, Councillor, Silmo Constituency, Feroz Ahmad Khan emphasized that road construction works should continue smoothly while ensuring that electricity and other essential services remain unaffected. He called for effective coordination among all concerned departments and strict adherence to the required approvals and procedures so that developmental works are completed without causing inconvenience to the public.
