NHM UT Ladakh Conducts AI-Assisted TB Screening Camp at District Police Line, Kargil.
Kargil, July 24: Reinforcing the Government of India’s vision of TB-Mukt Bharat, the National Health Mission UT Ladakh, under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, continues to strengthen grassroots interventions for early detection and elimination of tuberculosis across the Union Territory. Under the leadership of Sh. Tushar Anand, IAS, Mission Director, NHM UT Ladakh, the Mission is actively promoting AI-enabled screening and community-based health interventions to accelerate progress towards a TB-Free Ladakh.
As part of the ongoing Active Case Finding Campaign, the District Tuberculosis Centre Kargil organized an AI-assisted chest X-ray screening and integrated health camp at District Police Line Kargil in collaboration with Ladakh Police, while another outreach screening camp was simultaneously conducted at Food Street Lal Chowk, Kargil.
At District Police Line, the camp was supervised by Dr. Fatima Nissa, District Tuberculosis Officer, Kargil. Besides AI-assisted TB screening, the programme included women’s health awareness, mental health counselling and tobacco cessation services. A total of 117 police personnel were screened, with 22 individuals referred for CBNAAT testing. The camp was also visited by Sh. Nitin Yadav, SSP Kargil, who appreciated the coordinated efforts of the health teams and Ladakh Police in strengthening public health services.
The outreach camp at Food Street screened 100 individuals, with 29 referred for CBNAAT testing.
Overall, 217 individuals underwent AI-assisted chest X-ray screening, and 51 presumptive TB cases were referred for confirmatory CBNAAT testing. The initiative reflects NHM UT Ladakh’s continued commitment to expanding community based screening, ensuring early diagnosis, and supporting the Government of India’s goal of a TB-Mukt Bharat through coordinated and technology driven public health interventions.
