District Level Cascade Workshop Inaugrated By DIET Leh to Strengthen Mathematics and Science Education.
Leh, July 25, 2026: The three days District Level Cascade Workshop under the Teacher, Development Strand was concluded today at Paras Hall, Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh. The workshop was being organized in collaboration with the department of School Education, UT Ladakh by DIET Leh and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) , Pune under the iRISE initiative.
Scheduled from July 23 to 25, 2026, the workshop has brought together elementary and secondary school teachers from across the district to strengthen innovative teaching practices in Mathematics and Science. The programme aims to promote inquiry based learning, critical thinking, activity oriented classroom pedagogy in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The concluded ceremony was attended by Principal DIET Leh, Sh. S. D. Namgial, HOD DIET Leh, Smt Tsering Yangdol, Resource persons from IISER Pune, Master trainers, DIET faculty and the participating teachers. The recourse persons and the master trainers were warmly appreciated by Principal DIET Leh.The dignitaries highlighted the importance of continuous professional development for teachers and appreciated the collaborative efforts of IISER Pune and the Department of School Education in enhancing the quality of science and mathematics education in Ladakh.
During the session , participants were introduced to the objectives and structure of the workshop. Participants were emphased experiential learning, collaborative problem solving, and hands-on activities designed to make classroom teaching more engaging and effective. Teachers were participated in interactive session, demonstrations, group discussion and practical activities. The knowledge and skill gained during the workshop are expected to be disseminated further benefiting a larger community of teachers and students across the district.
The workshop reflects the shared commitment of the Department of School, Education, UT Ladakh and the IISER Pune towards empowering teachers and fostering scientific temper, curiosity and meaningful learning experiences among students.
