DC Drass reviews preparations for 80th Independence Day celebrations.
DRASS, JULY 28:
Deputy Commissioner Drass Imteeaz Kacho today chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the forthcoming 80th Independence Day celebrations in Drass District.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, Ishtyaq Kacho; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vishal Atri; Principal, Higher Secondary School, Drass; Executive Engineer; PHE; Block Development Officer, Block Medical Officer, Principal, High School, Kharnu; Zonal Education Officer, Zonal Physical Education Officer, Assistant Executive Engineer, PDD, Station House Officer, Assistant Treasury Officer and other concerned officers as well as representatives of various private schools.
At the onset, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for having special Independence Day celebrations in the first year of formation of Drass as a District. He informed that the Independence Day function will be held at the International Horse Polo Stadium at Prati.
Discussions were held from all perspectives for fool-proof and effective coordination. Arrangements related to security, seating, transportation, electricity, sanitation, medical facilities, media coverage and other logistical requirements were reviewed in detail. Special emphasis was laid on proper seating arrangements, cleanliness of the venue and installation of mobile toilets to facilitate the public.
The Superintendent of Police threw light on the march past by various contingents, guard of honour, security and traffic measures, cultural programmes and bands for the celebrations.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure timely completion of their assigned responsibilities and make comprehensive arrangements for the smooth and successful conduct of the celebrations.
The Degree College, School Education Department and private schools were directed to ensure active participation of students in march past and cultural programmes. It was decided that rehearsals for the celebrations will commence from 5th August.
It was desired that a well-coordinated cultural programme showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region, including Shina cultural performances, patriotic presentations and awareness items on drug abuse and other social causes be scheduled. Talented students from different institutions will also be invited to participate in the programme, it was added.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed that adequate refreshments be arranged for participants. He also directed that ex-servicemen, retired civil and Police officials and members of the media fraternity be invited to grace the celebrations. He further said that in order to facilitate the participation of students and public, necessary transport, including e-buses wherever required, will be arranged. HE further directed schools unable to participate at the main venue to organise Independence Day celebrations in their respective institutions.
