DIET Kargil Successfully Concludes Multi-Phase Summer Capacity Building Programmes 2026.
Kargil, August 01, 2026: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kargil, successfully concluded its 15-day Multi-Phase Summer Capacity Building Programmes 2026, conducted from 18 July to 31 July 2026.
The programme comprised a series of intensive training workshops covering diverse pedagogical themes and subject areas, benefiting hundreds of teachers, Heads of Institutions (HOIs), Key Resource Persons (KRPs), Anganwadi Supervisors and Workers, and Nodal Teachers from across Kargil district. The initiatives were organized in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a focus on strengthening teacher professional development and improving classroom practices.
The first phase commenced on 18 July with a One-Day Training Programme on Pedagogical Leadership for 78 Heads of Institutions of Middle Schools at DIET Kargil, focusing on instructional leadership, school improvement, and effective academic management. This was followed by a five-day subject-specific training programme on “Math & EVS – The World Around Us” for elementary school teachers from 20–24 July, in which over 80 teachers participated.
The programme was facilitated by expert Resource Persons from Ritinjali, New Delhi, emphasizing activity-based and experiential learning. Simultaneously, a three-day Capacity Building Workshop on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) Pedagogy for 25 Zone-Level Key Resource Persons was organized in collaboration with the 17000ft Foundation, focusing on Grade I & II English and Mathematics Lesson Plan Handbooks. In another parallel initiative, 30 Key Resource Persons from Kargil attended a Science & Mathematics ICT Kit Workshop at Islamia School, Leh, jointly organized by DIET Leh and IISER Pune, preparing master trainers for district-level cascading programmes.
The second phase, held from 23–25 July, featured a three-day Balvatika Pedagogy Training Programme for 60 Foundational Stage teachers at GHSS Kargil, organized in collaboration with the 17000ft Foundation, with emphasis on play-based pedagogy and early childhood education.
Concurrently, a three-day “Transforming Anganwadis” Programme was conducted at High School Baroo for Anganwadi Supervisors and Workers, focusing on strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) practices.
The third phase included a three-day Capacity Building Programme on the Holistic Progress Card (HPC), organized from 25–28 July at SMM Hall and IKMT Hall, Kargil, in partnership with Nanritam NGO. More than 180 Foundational Stage teachers and District/Zonal Resource Persons participated in sessions on competency-based assessment and holistic student evaluation. During the same period, a three-day Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) Capacity Building Programme for 40 ATL Nodal Teachers was conducted at GHSS Kargil, providing practical exposure to coding, Arduino programming, sensors, robotics, and ATL tools. The first phase of the STEM Kit Cascading Workshop, organized in collaboration with IISER Pune, also trained over 90 teachers on the effective classroom use of STEM kits.
The final phase, conducted from 29–31 July, comprised a Three-Day Workshop on Digitalization and E-Content Development for PM e-Vidya Channels at DIET Kargil, equipping teachers with practical skills in digital pedagogy, instructional video production, and e-content creation for PM e-Vidya channels. Alongside this, the second phase of the STEM Kit Cascading Workshop, in collaboration with IISER Pune, trained over 60 additional teachers, further strengthening STEM education across the district.
The inaugural and valedictory sessions of various programmes were graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil; Shri Sajad Qadri, Director, School Education, UT Ladakh; Shri Sonam Wangchuk, Chief Education Officer, Kargil; and Smt. Khurshida Banoo, Principal, DIET Kargil.
The programmes were successfully facilitated by eminent Resource Persons from partner organizations along with the faculty members of DIET Kargil.
Participants expressed overwhelming satisfaction with the quality and relevance of the training programmes. Mr. Yusuf Ali, a participant in the Digitalization and E-Content Development Programme, remarked, “The programme was highly informative and practical. We learned valuable digital skills that will greatly enhance our classroom teaching.” Another participant from the STEM workshop shared, “The hands-on experience with STEM kits has increased our confidence in delivering activity-based science and mathematics lessons.”
Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Khurshida Banoo, Principal, DIET Kargil, emphasized that continuous professional development is the cornerstone of educational transformation. She encouraged all participants to translate the knowledge and skills acquired during the training into innovative classroom practices, ultimately benefiting students and strengthening the quality of school education in the district.
Each programmes concluded with certificate distribution, participant feedback sessions, and a reaffirmation of DIET Kargil’s commitment to providing high-quality, need-based professional development opportunities for teachers and educational functionaries in line with the vision of NEP 2020 and the educational priorities of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
