Kisan Goshti Training Programme Conducted in Kharu Sub-Division.
The Department of Agriculture, Kharu Sub-Division, organized a Kisan Goshti programme on various agricultural technologies, government schemes, mushroom cultivation, and organic and natural farming practices. The programme aimed to provide practical training, promote sustainable farming, and facilitate interaction with farmers to address their agricultural queries.
The programme was chaired by Sh. Shakeel-Ur-Rehman, District Agriculture Officer, Leh, who emphasized the revival of buckwheat and millet cultivation, promotion of organic produce, and briefed farmers on various departmental schemes.
Dr. Kunzang Lamo, Scientist, KVK, delivered a session on climate-resilient agriculture, highlighting crop diversification, soil health, and mulching. Sh. Mohd. Ramzan, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, Leh, conducted training on natural farming, organic farming, and crop protection practices, while Ms. Kunzang Dolma, Agriculture Extension Officer, Kharu, demonstrated mushroom cultivation techniques, including substrate preparation, spawning, incubation, crop management, and harvesting.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers. Following the training, the departmental team visited the Ladakh Greenhouses (LGHs) of participating farmers and observed healthy vegetable crops, reflecting the successful adoption of protected cultivation practices.
The programme concluded successfully and was well appreciated by the farming community.
