    ADDC Kargil Flags Off Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Campaign.
    Kargil, August 10, 2026: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kargil Ghulam Mohd (JKAS) today flagged off the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kargil, aimed at raising awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a drug-free society.
    The flag-off ceremony was followed by an awareness march involving District Officers, representatives of concerned departments, stakeholders, representatives of religious organisations and school students. The march commenced from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kargil, proceeded towards Gandhi Park near Conference Hall, Baroo, Kargil, and culminated at the same venue.
    Addressing the gathering at the culmination of the awareness march, representative of the Imam Khumaini Memorial Trust (IKMT) Kargil, Aga Syed Ali, highlighted the importance of preventing substance abuse and collective community action against drug addiction. He emphasised that combating drug abuse requires the active participation of families, educational institutions, religious organisations, administration and society at large.
    Relating his message to Islamic ethics, Aga Syed Ali stressed the importance of protecting individuals, particularly youth, from harmful substances and promoting a healthy and responsible lifestyle in accordance with moral and religious values.
    Speaking on the occasion, SHO Kargil, Kacho Saadat Ali apprised participants about the serious social, physical and legal consequences associated with drug use. He urged the youth to remain strong and not fall into the trap of substance abuse merely for show-off, fashion or peer pressure. He also appealed to come forward and inform the Police if they notice any drug-related activities in their surroundings, assuring that timely information can help prevent the spread of the menace.
    Manager/In-charge, District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Kargil, Imtiyaz Hussain, briefed the participants about the month-long Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign and the various awareness and outreach activities being undertaken as part of the initiative. He encouraged all stakeholders to actively participate in the campaign and contribute towards creating a drug-free Kargil.
