Full-Dress Rehearsal for 80th Independence Day Held at Leh.
Leh, August 13, 2026: The full-dress rehearsal for the 80th Independence Day celebrations was held today at Polo Ground, Leh. Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sh. Romil Singh Donk, IAS, hoisted the National Flag and presided over the parade.
The rehearsal featured marching contingents from the Ladakh Police (men and women), Ladakh Police Commando Unit, Ex-Servicemen, National Cadet Corps (NCC) Boys and Girls, Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, GN National School, Mahabodhi Residential Senior Secondary School, and various government schools from both Leh and Kargil districts. The Ladakh Police Women Pipe Band also performed, while the Ladakh Police K9 Unit gave an impressive demonstration.
The programme was further enriched by vibrant cultural performances presented by students from schools across Leh and Kargil districts, along with traditional dance performances by the Cultural Academy, Kargil.
The full-dress rehearsal concluded with the singing of the National Song and the National Anthem, marking the successful completion of preparations for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.
