Zanskar, August 13, 2026: A spirited Full Dress Rehearsal for the 80th Independence Day celebrations was held today at Zanskar, showcasing patriotic fervour, discipline and coordinated preparedness for the national event.
Tehsildar Zanskar, Mohd Jan, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and took the ceremonial salute during the impressive march-past. The SHO Zanskar was also present on the occasion.
The parade was led by Stanzin Yangzom, who served as the Parade Commander. Contingents from the Police, Ex-Servicemen, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and various educational institutions participated in the march-past, demonstrating commendable discipline, coordination and enthusiasm.
Addressing the gathering, Tehsildar Zanskar Mohd Jan highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the values associated with the nation’s freedom. He said the occasion provides an opportunity to remember and honour the courage, sacrifices and invaluable contributions of the freedom fighters who dedicated themselves to securing the country’s independence.
He emphasized the importance of patriotism, national unity, discipline and responsible citizenship, particularly among the younger generation. He encouraged students and youth to contribute positively to society and the nation through education, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility.
Tehsildar Mohd Jan also appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students, parade contingents, officials and various departments involved in the rehearsal. He lauded their collective efforts and stressed that such national occasions strengthen the spirit of unity and deepen respect for the country and the National Flag.
The rehearsal also featured colourful cultural performances by students from different schools. The students presented a variety of programmes reflecting patriotism, cultural heritage and national pride, adding vibrancy and enthusiasm to the occasion.
Officials and representatives from various departments, including the Medical Department, Youth Services and Sports, PHE Zanskar, along with teachers, faculty members and other concerned officials, attended and participated in the rehearsal.
The Full Dress Rehearsal concluded successfully, reflecting the preparedness, discipline and coordinated efforts of all stakeholders for the grand celebration of the 80th Independence Day on August 15 in Zanskar.
