    Kargil, August 13, 2026: Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Er. Puchok Tashi attended the 5th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Pumoi Rangsten Rigsal Yargas Cooperative, a women-led cooperative formed by members of SEWA Ladakh, as the Chief Executive Guest. Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kargil, Ghulam Mohammad, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour.
    The programme highlighted the cooperative’s efforts towards women’s empowerment, skill development, entrepreneurship and promotion of locally produced products. Members also displayed a range of products, including baked items, showcasing their skills and entrepreneurial potential. The cooperative also highlighted its membership base and training initiatives conducted across Ladakh.
    The founder of the cooperative highlighted the journey from workers to entrepreneurs, stating that the organisation focuses on providing education, skills, equipment, strategies and market linkages to help women establish sustainable livelihoods and enterprises. The programme also focused on creating linkages with NRLM, PM Vishwakarma and other government schemes aimed at women’s empowerment and livelihood generation.
    Addressing the gathering, Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Er. Puchok Tashi congratulated and appreciated the entire team for their commendable initiative and dedicated efforts towards empowering women. He highlighted the vital role of skill development in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and praised the women members for turning their skills into productive and market-oriented activities.
    Er. Puchok Tashi emphasised the strength and potential of women in society, noting that the achievements of the cooperative serve as an inspiration for other women and Self Help Groups. He encouraged the members to remain focused, set clear targets and continuously work towards expanding their activities.
    He further highlighted the various subsidy and support schemes being provided by the government and urged the members to make maximum use of these opportunities. He encouraged the cooperative to continue its efforts towards skill development, entrepreneurship and market linkages for greater economic empowerment.
    The Executive Councillor extended his heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the organisers and the women members for taking this important initiative forward and contributing towards the empowerment and economic strengthening of women across Ladakh.
    Speaking on the occasion, ADDC Kargil Ghulam Mohammad emphasised the importance of technological interventions and urged local communities, particularly Self Help Groups (SHGs), to acquire complete knowledge of modern skills, technologies and production processes. He stressed that SHGs should expand their ideas, adopt appropriate technology and strengthen their entrepreneurial activities.
    The event concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthen women-led enterprises, enhance skills and technology adoption, and establish stronger linkages between local entrepreneurs and government livelihood schemes.
    The event was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Kargil Ghulam Mohammad; Councillor Taisuru Abdul Hadi, Ex Executive Councillor Aga Syed Ahmad Rizvi; Inspector Abass Fazil; and District Program Manager Muneer Wani and other officials.
