80th Independence Day Celebrated at Kharu.
Kharu, August 15: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Kharu. The National Flag was unfurled in the presence of officers and officials of the Sub-Division, representatives of LBA Kharu and Indian Army, BRO, local representatives, teachers, students and a large number of residents.
Addressing the gathering, the SDM Kharu, Mohd Shabir extended warm greetings on Independence Day and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters who made supreme sacrifices for the country. He also expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces, Police and other security personnel for safeguarding the nation.
Highlighting the development initiatives in Ladakh, the SDM said that under the vision and leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, the UT Administration is working across sectors including education, healthcare, roads, water, power, sanitation, plantation, environmental conservation, tourism and cultural heritage.
He also highlighted the importance of making Kharu clean, healthy and drug-free, based on the initiatives of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor and called upon parents, teachers, religious leaders and community representatives to work collectively towards a Nasha Mukt Kharu, Nasha Mukt Ladakh and Nasha Mukt Bharat. The SDM also highlighted the initiatives of the Hon’ble Prime Minister ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan’ towards youth development and a drug-free society.
The SDM welcomed the upgradation of several Nayabats, including Gya, to Tehsil status, terming these steps important for bringing governance and public services closer to the people, and conveyed gratitude to the Ut Administration for the same. He also appreciated digital governance initiatives and the Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur outreach programmes for facilitating government services at the doorstep of citizens.
Congratulating the students and teachers of the Sub-Division, the SDM highlighted the achievements of Nomo Sonam Ladol of Sakti Higher Secondary School, who secured the top position in Chemistry in the Class 12 CBSE results in Leh district, and Nono Stanzin Rigdan of Government High School Igoo, who was selected for the Under-19 National Football Team.
The SDM expressed sincere gratitude to the Indian Army, BRO, LBA Kharu, Hemis Monastery, teachers, healthcare workers, officials, Nambardars, Gobas, Village Education Committees and the people of Kharu for their continued cooperation and support to the civil administration.
