    Drass, August 15, 2026:
    Government Degree College (GDC) Drass celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm through a ceremonial Flag Hoisting Ceremony held at the college premises under the theme “Yuva Shakti.” The celebration highlighted the spirit of patriotism, national unity, and the important role of youth in nation-building.
    The Flag Hoisting Ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, GDC Drass, Prof. M. N. M. Shabani, in the presence of faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students. The members of the college community participated actively in the ceremony, which was conducted in a solemn and dignified atmosphere.
    As the Tricolour unfurled, the entire gathering stood in respect and honour of the nation. The Flag Hoisting Ceremony was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, with all the participants joining together in a spirit of patriotism and national pride.
    The 80th Independence Day celebration was organised under the theme “Yuva Shakti,” emphasising the immense potential and responsibility of the youth in shaping the future of the nation. On the occasion, the Principal highlighted the importance of empowering young minds through education, discipline, integrity, hard work, and a strong sense of social responsibility. He encouraged the students to actively contribute to the progress and development of the country and to uphold the values of unity, democracy, and constitutional responsibility.
    The active participation of faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students added enthusiasm and dignity to the celebrations. The programme provided an opportunity for the college community to come together and commemorate the nation’s freedom while reaffirming their commitment towards the progress and unity of India.
    The celebration concluded on a warm and cordial note, with refreshments being served among the students, faculty members, and other participants.
