CEC Dr Jaffer Akhoon Visits Flash Flood-Affected Village Hardass, Assures All Possible Support.
Kargil, August 19, 2026: Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today visited the flash flood-affected Gund Hardass village along with Executive Councillor Altaf Hussain and heads of various line departments to take stock of the damage and assess the immediate needs of the affected residents.
During the visit, the CEC interacted with the residents and villagers, who apprised him of the damages caused by the flash flood, particularly to houses, agricultural land, orchards, crops, livestock, roads, irrigation infrastructure and drinking water facilities.
The residents submitted a memorandum seeking urgent restoration of drinking water and lift irrigation facilities, clearance and scientific treatment of Choulungs Nallah, assessment of losses and timely relief, identification of suitable land for rehabilitation as per government rules and comprehensive long-term flood protection measures.
Dr Akhoon gave a patient hearing to the residents and assured that all possible support would be extended by LAHDC Kargil for restoration, relief and rehabilitation as per government rules. He directed the concerned departments to assess the damages on the ground and take necessary measures for restoration of essential services on priority.
The CEC appreciated the all line departments for their efforts day night for the immediate restoration of all essential public services. He also stressed close coordination among all concerned departments to ensure timely resolution of the issues and effective implementation of flood protection and mitigation measures.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Superintending Engineers of I&FC and PHE, Executive Engineers of I&FC, PHE and R&B, along with officers from Agriculture, Horticulture, Revenue, RDD and other line departments, accompanied the CEC during the visit.
