SSP Sham addresses press conference on growing menace of drug abuse.
Sham, Ladakh, September 3: SSP Sham, Sh. Malik Aijaz, JKPS, held a press conference to address the growing threat of drug abuse and substance misuse, highlighting its devastating impact on the youth and society.
Addressing media representatives, SSP Malik Aijaz detailed how substance abuse severely affects the physical and mental well-being of young people. He warned that drug addiction can destroy educational opportunities, career prospects, family relationships and overall quality of life.
Highlighting the need for a broader approach, the SSP emphasized that drug abuse is not merely a law-and-order issue but a complex social challenge that cannot be addressed by law enforcement agencies alone. He called for a united response involving the police, local administration, educational institutions, families and community leaders.
The SSP highlighted the important role of families and educators in preventing substance abuse. Parents and teachers were urged to remain vigilant, maintain open communication with young people and identify early warning signs to prevent them from falling into addiction.
He also encouraged the youth to adopt healthy lifestyles, stay away from illicit substances and channel their energy towards positive and constructive pursuits.
Reaffirming the commitment of District Police Sham, SSP Malik Aijaz stated that the police are adopting a multi-pronged strategy combining strict legal action against drug suppliers with preventive interventions, awareness campaigns and community outreach programmes.
District Police Sham remains steadfast in its resolve to eradicate the drug menace and safeguard the future of the region’s youth.
