CAHO Leh reviews veterinary infrastructure, livestock facilities and farm development activities.
Leh, September 3: Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Leh, Dr. Gulzar Hussain, visited various veterinary facilities, livestock farms and ongoing infrastructure projects in Leh on September 2 and 3 to review the progress of developmental works and the functioning of departmental establishments.
On September 2, Dr. Gulzar Hussain visited the Bull Mother Farm, Angling, along with Farm Manager Dr. Stanzin Thakchos and reviewed the ongoing activities, particularly works related to land development and farm infrastructure.
The CAHO expressed satisfaction over the progress of the works being undertaken at the farm and appreciated the efforts of the concerned staff. He directed the Farm Manager to closely monitor all works being executed through different agencies, including the construction of staff quarters, installation of solar lighting and other infrastructure-related works, and ensure timely execution while adhering to the required quality standards.
While reviewing the proposed land development activities under the National Livestock Mission (NLM), the CAHO directed the Farm Manager to properly plan the proposed works before commencement, identify suitable sites based on the requirements of the farm and ensure systematic and optimal utilisation of the available land. He emphasised that the NLM-supported land development works should be undertaken in a well-planned and sustainable manner after proper site identification and assessment.
On September 3, the CAHO visited key veterinary facilities and ongoing infrastructure projects in Leh, accompanied by Junior Engineer (JE) and Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS), Dr. Mutup Angmo.
During the visit, Dr. Gulzar Hussain inspected the newly constructed Central Veterinary Referral Hospital and reviewed the status of the remaining works. The contractor was directed to expedite the pending works and ensure completion of the hospital at the earliest.
The CAHO also directed the concerned VAS to maintain close follow-up with the executing agency to ensure timely completion of the pending works. The concerned PHE authorities were requested to activate the submersible pump installed for the facility.
Thereafter, the CAHO visited the District Veterinary Hospital, Leh, where he interacted with the staff and reviewed the functioning of the hospital.
Appreciating the dedication and commitment of the staff towards their duties and service delivery, Dr. Gulzar Hussain expressed satisfaction with their work and encouraged them to continue serving livestock owners and the general public with the same spirit and commitment. He also took note of certain issues raised by the staff and assured that matters falling within the department’s competency would be addressed at the earliest.
The CAHO also inspected the site of the Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory being established at the District Veterinary Hospital. He telephonically requested the concerned Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Mr. Nazir, to expedite the ongoing work while ensuring strict adherence to the approved Detailed Project Report (DPR) and prescribed quality standards. The AEE assured that the work would be executed expeditiously as per the DPR while maintaining the required quality standards.
Subsequently, the CAHO visited the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Centre and the office of the Disease Investigation Officer (DIO), where he interacted with the staff and reviewed the facilities and functioning of the establishments.
During the interaction, issues related to water availability and storage were discussed. The CAHO assured the staff that the water-related issues would be addressed at the earliest and necessary support for water storage arrangements, motor and required pipeline works would be provided.
