Joint Inspection Team Cracks Down on Single-Use Plastic and Littering in Nimoo Market.
Nimo, September 9, 2026 — A joint inspection team constituted under the chairmanship of Block Development Officer (BDO) Nimoo, Sh. Manzoor Hussain, carried out a comprehensive inspection drive across the Nimoo/Basgo market and adjoining localities to enforce environmental regulations and streamline local waste management.
The inspection team comprised Naib Tehsildar Basgo, Sh. Rahullah; Panchayat Inspector Palzes; and personnel from the local police administration.
The drive focused on enforcing the government ban on single-use plastics, curbing roadside littering, and ensuring institutional compliance with civic sanitation protocols.
Key actions during the drive included:
* Market Inspection: Commercial shops, retail outlets, and business establishments were checked for prohibited single-use plastic bags, packaging materials, and non-biodegradable items.
* SRMC Registration: Commercial establishments and local households were directed to register promptly with the Solid Resource Management Centre (SRMC) to ensure systematic door-to-door waste collection.
* Warnings Against Littering: Strict warnings were issued to shop owners, vendors, and nearby residents against unhygienic practices, burning of garbage, and dumping waste into open drains or public thoroughfares.
The administration urged the business community and local residents to cooperate actively in preserving the local ecology by adopting reusable alternatives and segregating waste at the source. The inspecting officers emphasized that regular monitoring will continue, and strict penalties will be imposed on repeat offenders under relevant sanitation and environmental bylaws.
