Two-Day National Conference on “Towards Inclusive Futures: Dialogue and Collective Action” Inaugurated at EJM College, Leh.
Leh, September 10, 2026: The Department of Social Work, Eliezer Joldan Memorial (EJM) College, Leh, inaugurated a two-day National Conference on _“Towards Inclusive Futures: Dialogue and Collective Action”_ today. The conference, funded by PM-USHA and supported by IQAC, EJM College, will be held on 10–11 September 2026.
The event has brought together 135 participants from 46 institutions and organizations across 18 States and UTs, including J&K, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Ladakh, Karnataka, Kerala and others. Participants include academicians, researchers, social work professionals, students, research scholars, and representatives from civil society.
Institutions represented include University of Delhi, JNU, Jamia Millia Islamia, NIMHANS Bengaluru, University of Kashmir, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, University of Ladakh, and others. The conference also features interdisciplinary participation from Sociology, Law, Public Policy, Mental Health, Disability Studies, and Environmental initiatives.
Prof. (Dr.) Saket Kushwaha, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, graced the inaugural as Chief Guest. Prof. Tsewang Mutup, DCDC, University of Ladakh, was Guest of Honour. Prof. Gandhidoss, President, INPSWA, and Dr. Bhat Iqbal Majeed, General Secretary, PSWAJK, also addressed the gathering.
Prof. Stanzin Yangdol, Principal, EJM College, delivered the welcome address. Dr. Yangchan Dolma, Organising Secretary, introduced the conference and released the TIF Abstract Book. She stressed the need to move from dialogue to collaboration and collective action for inclusion.
The conference covers key themes such as mental health, climate change, gender, education, women’s entrepreneurship, governance, and vulnerable groups through technical sessions, symposiums and panel discussions, including focused panels on child rights and mental health & well-being.
A key feature is linking academic research with field practice, and providing students and young researchers a platform to present papers and engage with experts.
The event is organized by the Department of Social Work, EJM College, with support from PM-USHA, IQAC, PSWAJK, INPSWA, HWVO, J&K Bank and PNB.
The conference continues on 11 September 2026 with further sessions aimed at strengthening dialogue on inclusion, equity and sustainable futures.
