CEC Dr Jaffer Flags Off Mega Padyatra Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in Kargil.
Kargil, September 17, 2026: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today flagged off a Mega Padyatra under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, as part of the UT-wide Drug Awareness Campaign, with the theme “Walk for a Drug-Free and Greener Ladakh.”
The eco-friendly initiative commenced from the Old Taxi Stand, Kargil, where participants raised awareness against drug abuse and called for a collective commitment towards building a drug-free society and a greener Ladakh.
The Padyatra culminated at Fatima Chowk, Kargil, where participants took a pledge to stay away from drugs and contribute towards creating a healthy, responsible and drug-free society. A signature campaign was also organised on the occasion, witnessing participation from students, officials and members of the public.
Member of Parliament Ladakh, Haneefa Jan; Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; SSP Kargil, Nitin Yadav; ADDC Ghulam Mohd; ADC Kargil, Shabbir Hussain; CMO Kargil, DSWO Kargil, Chief Planning Officer Kargil, besides officers and officials from various departments and a large number of students, participated in the Padyatra.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the message of collective responsibility against drug abuse while promoting healthy lifestyles, environmental consciousness and active youth participation in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
