Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Leads UT-wide Drug Awareness Padyatra Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Reaffirms Commitment Towards a Drug-Free Ladakh.
Leh, September 17: As part of the extensive UT-wide Drug Awareness Campaign, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, today led the UT-wide Drug Awareness Padyatra under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to building a Drug-Free Ladakh.
The campaign was also joined by Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra; Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh, Shri Surbir Singh; Administrative Secretaries; Deputy Commissioner, Leh; and Senior Officers and Officials from Administration of UT Ladakh.
The Padyatra commenced from Zangsti Chowk and concluded at Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh, with enthusiastic participation from students of Government and Private schools, Youth, NGOs, President Ladakh Buddhist Association, President Ladakh Gonpa Association, President Anjuman Moin-ul Islam, members of various Religious Organisations and other stakeholders. Participants carried placards and awareness pamphlets highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of a healthy, drug-free society.
The Padyatra aimed to raise public awareness, particularly among the youth, and promote collective action against drug abuse under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event was a strong message of awareness, responsibility and the Administration’s and Civil Society’s collective resolve to ensure a healthier, safer and Drug-Free Ladakh.
The event was organised by Department of Social & Tribal Welfare in collaboration with District Administration Leh which was collectively supported by Education Department, Police Department, Health Department, Religious Organisations, Ladakh Media and Cultural Society and other stakeholders.
Similarly, the Padyatra was also organised at Nubra, Sham and Changthang District in a collective effort to create awareness about the harmful effect of substance abuse and importance of a healthy and Drug Free Ladakh.
