    Zanskar, September 17, 2026: A Shramdaan for Swachhta (Cleanliness Drive) was successfully conducted today at the 11th Edition of Zanskar Festival venue at Sani, following the conclusion of the festival. The cleanliness drive was organised with the active participation and support of Ama Tsokspa, Government Degree College Zanskar, Government Higher Secondary School, residents of Sani village, Heads of Departments (HODs), and staff from various government departments.
    The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching and non-teaching staff, Heads of Departments, government officials, and local residents, who came together to clean the festival venue and its surrounding areas. The collective effort reflected a strong spirit of community participation and shared responsibility towards maintaining cleanliness and protecting the local environment.
    On the occasion, Nazir Hussain, Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (LAACL), also visited Sani to express his gratitude to the people of Zanskar for their valuable contribution and cooperation towards the successful conduct of the 11th Edition of the Zanskar Festival. He appreciated the collective efforts of the local community, institutions, government departments and all those who contributed to the successful organisation of the festival.
    The District Administration appreciated the active cooperation extended by the residents of Sani village, educational institutions, Heads of Departments and their staff, Ama Tsokspa, and various government departments in making the cleanliness drive successful.
    The initiative also emphasised the importance of continued community participation and responsible waste management to ensure that public spaces and tourist destinations in Zanskar remain clean and well-maintained.
