A one day Training Programme Conducted in Chemday village.
Chemday, Leh, September 23, 2026: The Department of Agriculture, Kharu Sub Division, successfully organized a one day training Nutri cereal based cropping system The program primarily focused on reviving and expanding cultivation of nutri-cereals( millets)where nutritional and health benefits of millets have been highlighted and package of practices for growing millets has been taught to the farmers of Chemday village in Kharu sub division.
Awareness on Various Agricultural Technologies, schemes and hands on training on package of practices for Mushroom Cultivation and Organic & Natural Farming techniques were also given.Training was conducted to improve technical knowledge, provide practical know how, promote sustainable agricultural practices and having one to one discussion with farmers regarding their problems, interests and queries regarding agricultural practices.
The program was chaired by Sh Mohd Ramzan Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Leh. He breiefed farmers on importance of natural farming and organic farming and also demonstrated natural farming practices (jeevamrit, beejamrit, Agni Astra) while Agriculture Extension Officer, Leh Ms. Tsering Dolkar imparted training on compost and vermi compost preparation and package of practices to be followed in Ladakh Green Houses. Ms Kunzang Dolma Agricultural Extension Officer Kharu conducted practical demonstrations on organic mushroom cultivation, covering substrate preparation, spawning, incubation, crop management, and harvesting techniques and imparted training package of practices to be followed for cultivation of millets (nutri cereals).
The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation of around 40 farmers who actively interacted with the resource persons and gained valuable knowledge on sustainable farming technologies.
