DC Drass Chairs First DLAMC Meeting to Review Delivery of Aadhaar Services; Calls for Expeditious Clearance of Pendency.
Drass, September 23: Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS), today chaired a meeting of the District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee (DLAMC) in his office chamber to comprehensively review the delivery of Aadhaar services, with special emphasis on enrolment, Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU), pendency and accessibility of Aadhaar-related services across Drass.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officer, Drass; Principals of the Government Higher Secondary Schools of Drass and Bhimbat; Zonal Education Officer, Drass; Child Development Project Officer, Postmaster, Assistant Manager, UIDAI-Ladakh; representatives of J&K Bank State Bank of India besides other concerned officials.
During the meeting, the Assistant Manager, UIDAI, gave a detailed presentation on the functioning and objectives of DLAMC and briefed the participants about the current status of Aadhaar services in Drass. He informed that 14,939 Aadhaar numbers have been generated in Drass.
A detailed review was also conducted regarding the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) status for children aged 5+ and 15+ as per UDISE data. Institution-wise pendency and Aadhaar-related issues were discussed, covering various Government and Private Schools of Drass.
The UIDAI representative explained various provisions relating to Aadhaar enrolment and updating, including permissible opportunities for updating demographic and biometric information. The officials were also sensitised about safeguards against fraudulent Aadhaar-related activities and the importance of proper verification of supporting documents.
Issues like verification of Aadhaar holders aged 100 years and above, the State Portal mechanism for persons aged 18 years and above as well as Aadhaar enrolment of children living in difficult circumstances were also discussed. Aadhaar-related cases concerning various Departments were also deliberated upon.
It was further informed that Aadhaar enrolment is governed by prescribed UIDAI eligibility and verification requirements, including applicable residency conditions. The role of Aadhaar in helping establish the identity of children in appropriate circumstances was also discussed.
DC Drass Calls for Active, Coordinated Action
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner sought detailed feedback from all participating officers regarding Aadhaar-related issues being faced at the departmental and public levels. He stressed that no eligible resident, particularly children and students, should face avoidable difficulty in accessing Aadhaar enrolment and update services. Further, he directed the concerned officials to identify pending cases institution-wise and ensure their timely resolution through coordinated efforts.
The Deputy Commissione laid special emphasis on clearing MBU pendency among school-going children and directed Aadhaar operators and the officials of School Education Department to intensify their efforts in schools where pendency remains. He called for proactive coordination between schools, health institutions, banks, UIDAI and other stakeholder Departments to improve Aadhaar coverage and service delivery.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need to strengthen the availability of Aadhaar-related facilities through banking institutions, wherever applicable, and asked the concerned bank officials to actively facilitate Aadhaar services in accordance with prescribed norms. He further directed all Departments to ensure proper documentation and verification while processing Aadhaar-related cases and to create awareness among the public regarding the documents required for enrolment and updates.
“All concerned departments must work actively and in close coordination to resolve Aadhaar-related issues and reduce pendency. Special attention should be given to schools and children so that eligible beneficiaries are able to access Aadhaar services without unnecessary difficulty,” the Deputy Commissioner emphasised. He asked all concerned officers to regularly identify Aadhaar-related grievances within their respective Departments, follow up on pending cases and work closely with UIDAI and Aadhaar operators for their timely resolution.
