Kargil District Administration Conferred Prestigious SKOCH Award for ‘Padega Kargil, Badega Kargil’ Initiative.
Kargil, September 27, 2026: District Administration Kargil has been conferred the prestigious SKOCH Award for the initiative ‘Padega Kargil, Badega Kargil: Transparent, Technology-Driven Public Education Reform’, aimed at strengthening school education and promoting academic excellence among students in Kargil.
On behalf of the Deputy Commissioner, the award was received by Chief Education Officer Kargil, Sonam Wangchuk and District Informatics Officer Iftikhar Hussain. The award ceremony was held as part of the 110th SKOCH Summit on September 26, 2026, at Silver Oak Hall, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
The award recognises the outcome-oriented interventions undertaken in the Education Department under the initiative, particularly the use of technology to support students and improve learning outcomes. The initiative introduced a series of interconnected reforms that fundamentally transformed the governance architecture of public education, which includes: Transparent Teacher Transfer Policy, Digital Teacher Transfer Portal, Evidence-Based Learning Assessment, Rationalisation of Teacher Deployment according to school enrollment, Digital Classrooms, Mobile STEM Laboratories, Residential Remedial Coaching, Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs, Aadhaar-Based Attendance System, Establishment of Council Model Schools, and other initiatives.
The initiative played an instrumental role in significantly improving the performance of students of Classes 10th and 12th in the CBSE examinations, reflecting the impact of focused academic interventions and technology-driven educational reforms.
The SKOCH Award was conferred following the successful completion of all evaluation stages of the SKOCH Award process, which is known for its independent and outcome-based assessment.
The recognition is a significant acknowledgement of the sustained efforts towards improving school education in Kargil and strengthening academic outcomes through technology-enabled and evidence-based interventions.
