Secretary Transport Inspects Civic Infrastructure and Sanitation Facilities in Zanskar.
Zanskar, September 30, 2026: Secretary, Transport, UT Ladakh, Arava Gopi Krishna, IAS, today visited Zanskar and inspected various civic infrastructure and public facilities in and around Padum.
During the visit, the Secretary inspected the main market area of Padum, Civil Heli Pad, Cooperative Complex and sanitation arrangements in the market area. He took stock of the existing facilities and reviewed the arrangements being maintained by the concerned departments.
The Secretary also visited the Segregation Plant at Marthang and reviewed the functioning of the waste segregation system. He directed the concerned departments to strengthen waste segregation, ensure proper and scientific waste management, and maintain cleanliness in and around the market area.
Emphasising coordinated efforts among all concerned departments, the Secretary stressed the need for effective sanitation, proper waste management and improved civic amenities for residents and visitors to Zanskar.
The SDM Zanskar, BDO Zanskar and Naib Tehsildar Zanskar accompanied the Secretary and briefed him on the existing arrangements and issues concerning the respective areas.
The concerned officers were directed to ensure timely follow-up of the directions issued during the inspection and take necessary corrective measures for further improvement of public facilities, sanitation and waste-management arrangements in the district.
